Homecoming

Last week was homecoming week and there were plenty of events around campus to get into. Monday, I made an am trip downtown to take my real estate exam. I passed the state portion and failed the national portion by 1 point. 1 damn point! Now, I'll have to retake it, again!!! Later that evening was our bonfire & block party. Some Greeks urged our instructor to let us out of class early, and did. We made our ways to the quad just in time to find no firepits or smores. Food goes fast on this campus. I met up with my new burnout friend and when I waked over, he introduced me to a group of his girlfriends and we sat out. Type shit and his friend were there waiting for their plug, so I went over and hung with them for a while. Their plug came and that was my cue. I rejoined the burnout and was ready to head in. He said he would walk with me and I declined. He insisted saying he wanted to, and I insisted that I didn't want him to. His ass still got up and followed behind me. I stopped him and dapped him up before saying goodnight again. I assumed he would go back to join his friends in the quad, but he walked to my building and started talking to some other friends. I felt anxious because he wasn't leaving, and I didn't want him following me inside. Eventually, I went inside.

Tuesday was a light day for me and I planned to go to the gym. I changed my mind and messaged a newface basketball player about giving me a JCC tour we discussed. He was off campus and told me next time. Meh, to the gym I go and thank goodness. I walked up the stairs and a class was walking in front of me. One of the guys looked familiar, but I wasn't too sure. A while later, I was on the treadmill when Joker walked in. He was in and out, talking on the phone, recording himself, lifting and grunting. Boy! After my workout, I made my way over to him. Joker saw me coming over and took his earpiece out. I introduced myself and told him that I'm pretty sure I came across his IG profile late the night before or early that morning. He asked, did I? Yes. I wanted to prove myself, so I asked if he were greek? He said yes with the biggest smile. FINE!!! I said and he likes smoking cigars on 4 wheelers type shit? He said yes as he started laughing. His laugh was super unexpected. He asked how I came across his profile? I told him I just got back on IG recently and had been interacting with some greeks, so his profile was suggested. I told him that I manifest good energy and here he was. He asked if he were better in person or on-line? I told him idk, I needed to see more. We exchanged IG's. Much better in person.

Wednesday was our homecoming cookout, which I missed. After class, my new burnout friend wanted to meet up. Sure. I told him to be ready for me when I arrived. I met him in the caf and he was sitting with a table of girls from The Tea. I walked over and tapped him. All eyes. He got up and greeted me, completely forgetting about anyone else. I can literally say, whenever I'm with him, I have his full attention. I asked if he was ready? He wasn't. He told me he would prep outside. We walked through the caf as he carried three cigar packs in his hand. We passed some Deltas and I insisted he let me put the cigars in his bag. Oy vey. We got outside and he prepped as he told me about how his connect was rude to him earlier. He told me that when he saw his connect and asked to purchase he was chastised for being too loud about it. But he didn't seem to understand where his connect was coming from, because "everyone does it." I tried to explain that his connect, as am I, are professional students. And just because somethings legal and "everyone does it" doesn't mean people want to be defined by or associated with it. As his connect doesn't want his plug status broadcasted, I don't want to walk around with someone openly carrying packs of cigars.

Thursday after our Alumni networking event, I ran into my new burnout friend. From the parking lot, he yelled that he got some cash from his uncle, re-uped and asked if I wanted to hang? No thanks. He skipped to the caf, cigars in hand, telling me that if I changed my mind, to let him know. Clearly, my words did not land.

Saturday night was the Greek step show. Yes please. I left out in stacked black jeans, black cropped tank top, Js and my White Sox hat. I made my way to Jacobi and decided to detour to checkout the tailgate first. A random stopped me, meh I wasn't too interested, but I was ready for a show. I headed in and found a seat. Everyone was there, Spotlight, Tone, The Boss, and.....Joker. The energy was good and the performances were interesting with only a couple lacking. Then....the Alphas. This was the first time I saw Joker stroll and that'll do it. They showed out, reigned as they do and won first place. After the show, I was hungry and didn't want any tailgate food. My friend was m.i.a, so uber eats it was. I stood out to meet my driver and then...Joker. As he and a friend walked to the parking lot, I saw him double take when he noticed me. Yeah, I see you too. Fine shyt!
